There are 4 Igloo Villages in France, spread across Savoie and Haute-Savoie, specifically in Avoriaz, Val Thorens, La Rosière, and Les Arcs. As the name suggests, the Igloo Village is a giant igloo covering 180 m², offering a terrace drink, snacks or sharing plates during your ski session, its famous “frosty aperitif”, a dinner inside the igloo, and even an overnight stay in a setting inspired by the Far North for those who want to prolong the experience. It’s a chance to feel like an Inuit for a few hours…
In Avoriaz, the Igloo Village is accessible on foot or by ski from the blue Arare slope. Beyond its bar and restaurant, it can accommodate up to 350 people for a corporate seminar and also hosts festive events such as birthdays, weddings, or bachelor/bachelorette parties. With a temperature of 0°C inside the igloo and animal skins provided for visitors, the Igloo Village immerses you in an atmosphere that is both polar and warm.
During the day, it’s the outdoor terrace of the Igloo Village that welcomes you for a light snack, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Whether with family or friends, with or without children, it’s the perfect place to enjoy the panorama of the Chablais mountains. If you prefer the ice space in the early evening for an intimate and friendly drink, head to the Ice Bar in the heart of the igloo.
Take the opportunity to try the “frosty aperitif,” perfect for a chill and stylish moment. Please note that access to the Igloo Village’s “frosty aperitif” is by reservation only, from Wednesday to Saturday evening. The aperitif includes a board of local cheese and charcuterie, plus two drinks per person of your choice from the menu—bringing the best of Haute-Savoie mountains to your plate.
Feeling like an Inuit? Try spending the night in one of the Igloo Village’s alcoves. Your experience begins at the Prodains cable car, where you’ll meet your mountain guide for a short moonlit walk to the igloo. Once there, you’ll learn about the origins of Avoriaz Igloo Village in a magical atmosphere. After dinner, you’ll discover the room where you’ll spend the night, snuggled warmly in a sleeping bag designed for extreme cold.
Upon waking, breakfast is served either inside the Igloo Village or on the terrace. You’ll witness the awakening of Avoriaz resort and the Portes du Soleil ski area before putting on your skis or snow boots to return to the village. It’s an experience you’ll remember as both wonderful and unforgettable.
The Igloo Village celebrates artists, as the rooms are adorned with unique decorations created by professional sculptors. Every room features original ice shapes highlighted against the walls.
